Five

And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three.

Five is right out.

Five is, however, the number of interesting things that I shall post about me today, as tagged by um, three? Not five. But to make it interesting, I'll do 5 things on fives...Hey! That is interesting already - since that would make me the OCD Blogger!

*ahem*

1) Five is the place that I came in for the Jingle Bell run. Fifth in my age group, though I was running with my mother, who came in 2nd in her age group. Well done, mama! OK, maybe that's not interesting - but it is in keeping with the theme.

2)
Five is the number of hats I juggle on a daily basis: wife, mother, triathlete, employee, and person - though not necessarily in that order of importance. I have been known to say that many people only get to know one dimension to my personality - I think this is because I am hardly ever standing still long enough to really tell a whole story about myself.

3)
Five is the age of my twins - the gorgeous wonders who take up one fifth of my hats - but not less than all of my heart. I think my heart is big enough to share with my people and my husband and my friends. I have yet to be proven wrong.

4) Five is the random phone number I am known to give out. Anytime I am in the company of someone who asks, "what's the number?" I'll usually say, without hesitation, "555-5555." I got that habit from my old boss Matt, about 500 years ago when I worked in the printing industry. It used to crack me up everytime he said it.

5) Five is the time of the morning I have been getting up for the last two weeks to go swim with the fast fishies - Master's Swim. OK, it's just before 5, but still. It's difficult to describe how very weird it is for me to get up that early - it's dark, it's too quiet. But I have been doing it. Me. The night person. And the amazing thing is, I'm still sharp all day after swimming with the masters and working a full day. Weird. I never thought I'd see a day where I'd get up that early on purpose. Except now, after 17 hours of awakeness, my brain is fully discharged, and I must sleep.

Bleah. I tag anybody who wants to be tagged - seems like I'm the last one I know to get this meme...unless Moi has not been taggded, in which case, tagging is solely in her court and she is IT!

Now excuse me while I go find my pillow...

Classic opening! The facts were fun, too.

From time to time I used to use "555-1212" (the information number, so it sort-of counted). Borrowed that from my father!

I thought 5 was the number of legs we were going to let you run in the CO relay. :)

On a scale of 1 to 10, 5 is half as great as you are. Merry Christmas.

Great 5 about 5 theme. Just from the brief time that I met them, your twins are perpetual motion embodified--wonder where they got that from?

5 am workouts are AWESOME. the street are dark, and quiet and empty and when you're done, your whole day stretches out in front of you.

Despite having tagged Moi with a meme that involves math, you are still my personal fitness hero (as opposed to impersonal fitness? never mind, you know what I mean). Moi's pool is closed for the winter. And I'm not sure if I want to wake at the butt crack of dawn to do anything about that. I think I'll just have to mini tri in the summer . . . and dream my silly dreams in the meantime.

Wow, 5 am to swim...that's great! I need to start swimming in the am again. I'm very slow though, and sometimes I think my training is not doing any good because I'm just practicing my bad form. I get out of breath a lot though, so there's something!
