back at it

tuesday: bike trainer (1hr) 1500m swim. I kill pool. I kill bike. Me bike hard. Still feeling calorie deficit from Saturday at the Quad.

wednesday: 7 mile run on the schedule. At mile 2 knee starts hurting. I somehow modify my gait to get through, but in the process gain a huge blister on the opposite foot (ran 6).

today: 6 miles on the schedule followed by 2000m swim. I cover blister with blisterpad, put blister powder in special squishy socks and get out there. At mile 1.5 knee starts hurting. Again, I modify gait to get around issue. Blister on left foot hurts anew. I stop to find that blister cover on left foot is hopelessly wrinkled. Throw blister pad away and run anyway. I don't know how. (ran 5.75). get in pool and try not to drown - get through 1500m before nausea stops me cold.

welcome back to training...

there's got to be something wrong with your shoes, socks, or gait -- to be plagued with blisters at that mileage? not to mention, what the heck kinda blister covers are you using... usually i have to saw them off.

shoes -- have you been fitted at a good running shoe store, with vid analysis?

socks -- squishy doesn't sound right, the cushion should come from your shoes, not your socks -- what are you wearing?

gait -- are you counting your strides? you sound long and lopey??

blister shields -- what brand?

i think this is an intervention!

Sounds painful but it does inspire me to get out and run.

shoes - it's gotta be the shoes...Have had gait analysis,

socks - thorlo running socks - good ones (all race schwag is good stuff, right?)

gait - I wish I knew. I'm not long and lopey, I'm more of your um, trotting piglet.

blister shields - dr. scholls. I know. I was stunned to find them in that kinda shape.

Ok, so in the world of ultramarathon they pop the blister, super glue the skin and cover with duct tape...that'll do the trick.
