Boo Bees

I sat my two little ones at the dinner table last night, Twin A has chosen to come to the table wearing only panties, since some element of playing dress-up went awry as she prepared to come to the table to eat.

This is not abnormal for my house, one day they both came to the table wearing only panties and coconut-shell bras. I approved the look myself, after all, how often does one get to dine with twins wearing coconut-shell bras?

So, she's happily eating her grilled cheese and tomato soup when she turns to me and says,

Mommy, when is me going to have big boobies?

My heart stopped. She's feeling up her chest as she's asking me this, her question couldn't be clearer.

"I don't know, pumpkin. Why do you want big boobies?"

Mommy, big girls have big boobies. I want to be a big girl and wear big girl clothes.

After watching my life pass before my eyes for a second, I regained my composure and said, "don't you think you'd look a little weird, being this tall and having big boobies?"

No, she says.

Will I have big boobies when I go to the Asteroids?

The Asteroids is the next class up in her nursery school - it's a room of 4 year olds. I'm thinking, where does she get this stuff?

I asked her, "Do any of the other kids in the Asteroids have big boobies?"

No, she says. When is ME going to have big boobies?

She asks some tough questions, that one - and she has the tenacity of a mongoose. She will NOT let you off the hook until she is satisfied. She continued to grill me on the topic until I went dry - I had no good answer for her.

I was relieved when just as suddenly, she wandered off-topic.
